Healthcare Covering Letters…Explained!
The same question often gets asked when it comes to covering letters, should I or shouldn’t I include one, when applying for a job? The short answer is, yes you should include a covering letter with all job applications, healthcare related or otherwise.
What is a Covering Letter?
A covering letter is a personalised letter to a prospective employer or recruiter, expressing an interest in the role and introducing the CV.
Why do I need a Covering Letter?
As a covering letter is tailored for the specific role you’re applying for it’s a good opportunity to add more context to your skill sets and experience. Recruiters see hundreds of CV’s and often it does put you in a better position if you’ve taken the time to write a covering letter. Not all roles will ask for a covering letter, if it’s an online application or if it specifies there is no need to supply a covering letter, in which case then don’t include one. But we think it’s good practice to include a covering letter with all applications unless explicitly required not to. Make sure you apply current letter writing formatting to ensure you can show your professionalism and attention to detail!
